Computing, Business Students Address Peers at Commencement

Spring 2019 Student Commencement Speakers

Just before making their graduation from Georgia Tech official this weekend, students and guests at each ceremony will hear a reflection from a graduating member of the class.

With four ceremonies this semester, the following four Yellow Jackets will address their peers on Friday and Saturday:

  • Ph.D. Ceremony: Caitlyn E. Seim
  • Master’s Ceremony: Rachel W. Chen
  • Bachelor’s Morning Ceremony: Deb Kumar Banerji
  • Bachelor’s Afternoon Ceremony: Leah Jamison Miller

Seim, a doctoral candidate, conducted research on wearable computing. Her advisor is Thad Starner, and she will earn a Ph.D. in human-centered computing this weekend.

Chen is earning a master’s in human-computer interaction. She has interned with IBM and served as a graduate research assistant with the Georgia Tech Research Institute.

Banerji, a computer science major, has interned with NCR and Facebook and has served as a head teaching assistant. He is specializing in intelligence and theory.

Lastly, Miller, a Decatur native and business administration major, will address her classmates Saturday afternoon. Her concentration is in finance, and she has worked with BlackRock and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. She also worked as a student assistant in the Scheller College of Business.
