Law School Reps Come to Campus Jan. 30

Georgia Tech students and alumni interested in pursuing legal careers will be able to talk with representatives from more than 75 law schools on campus next week.

Georgia Tech students, postdoctoral fellows, and alumni interested in pursuing legal careers will be able to talk with representatives from more than 75 law schools across the country on campus next week. Some of the top-ranked schools (“Top 14”) will be in attendance.

The Law School Fair will take place Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.

“Students should use the fair to introduce themselves to recruiters, ask specific questions about applications, and network a bit,” said Susan Belmonte, pre-law and pre-teaching advisor in the Center for Career Discovery and Development.

Unlike a career fair, students do not need to bring resumes, but should be prepared to talk with recruiters, ask informed questions, and leave a positive impression. The fair could also be a place to get application fee waivers.

Four breakout sessions will take place during the event to focus on applications and financing:

  • 10:30 – 11 a.m.: Nuts and Bolts of Applying
  • 11 – 11:30 a.m.: Financing Law School
  • Noon – 12:30 p.m.: Nuts and Bolts of Applying
  • 12:30 – 1 p.m.: Financing Law School

Students should plan to dress smart casual or business casual. The fair is open to all majors and is for undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and alumni. Students from Emory University and Georgia State University have also been invited to attend. No RSVP is needed.

Anyone from Tech considering careers in law can also request an appointment with Pre-Law Advising at prelawadvising.gatech.edu/advisement.
