Memorial Day Events in Atlanta

Each Memorial Day is an opportunity to honor and remember those who have given their lives serving in the U.S. armed forces.

This year, several events in the area will provide opportunities for observing the national holiday.

May 26-29
  • Salute the Troops at Stone Mountain Park: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights, the Lasershow Spectacular will have a choreographed musical tribute honoring veterans and an extended fireworks show. Entry fee is discounted with a military ID.
Monday, May 29
  • City of Smyrna Ceremony: The City of Smyrna will host a ceremony at the 20th Century Veterans Memorial at 9 a.m.
  • Roswell Remembers: The City of Roswell hosts the largest celebration in Georgia at Roswell City Hall at 11 a.m.
  • Marietta Memorial Day: The National Memorial Day Association of Georgia hosts its annual event at the Marietta Memorial Cemetery at noon. The ceremony will include music, salutes, and guest speakers.

May 25-28
  • Momocon: Welcoming "all kinds of geeks" — and started by Georgia Tech's anime club — this anime and gaming convention takes place downtown all weekend.
May 26-28
  • Atlanta Jazz Festival: The three-day fest is one of the country’s largest free jazz festivals and will take place at Piedmont Park.
  • Decatur Arts Festival: This Downtown Decatur event will have art vendors and exhibitions, food trucks, and other festivities.
