The Week Ahead: April 3–9
GT Hillel hosts Israel Fest each year to raise awareness about Israeli culture, including bringing a live camel to socialize with students.
As Spring rolls in, most days recently have been filled with the sun shining, birds chirping, and yellow jackets buzzing.

Monday, April 3
- What: Georgia Tech Greek Week
- When: Beginning April 3
- Where: Throughout Campus
Greek Week is a time to celebrate all Greek organizations Tech. The week features sporting and talent competitions open to the entire student body, regardless of affiliation, including Tug, Stroll, and Greek Sing. Many events benefit local and national charities, so come out to support the Greek community and various causes. Visit the Greek Week website for further details.
Tuesday, April 4
- What: Student Center Programs Council and the Invention Studio Present: Techwood Derby
- When: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Where: Kessler Campanile
Join the Student Center Programs Council and the Invention Studio to watch student-designed mini racecars compete in the Techwood Derby competition. The cars were designed by Tech students with the help of the Invention Studio. See people channel their inner racecar designer.
Wednesday, April 5
- What: Culture Fest 2017
- When: 6–8 p.m.
- Where: Tech Rec
On Wednesday, stop by Tech Rec to make arts and crafts while enjoying coffee and light refreshments. Arts and Crafts Night is co-hosted by AIESEC, the African Student Association, the Egyptian Student Association, the Office of International Education, the Student Alumni Association, and the Spouse Group. Various Culture Fest events will be held throughout the week and will showcase the extensive diversity found on Georgia Tech’s campus.
Thursday, April 6
- What: Israel Fest
- When: 11 a.m. – Noon
- Where: Kessler Campanile
Join Hillel at Georgia Tech to experience and celebrate Israeli life and culture. Learn about the night life of Tel Aviv, the diversity of Jerusalem, the innovations of a startup nation, the beaches of Eilat, and more. The event is open to all students and faculty and will include free falafel, henna tattoos, t-shirts, giveaways, and music.
Friday, April 7
- What: Taste Of Latin America by Georgia Tech Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
- When: 5–9 p.m.
- Where: Kessler Campanile
Taste of Latin America is a campuswide celebration of Hispanic heritage and culture. Enjoy a night of food, music, dance, and performances. Food from various parts of Latin America will be provided as well as performances from Tech’s Hispanic actors, musicians, and dancers. Purchase food tickets here.
Saturday, April 8
- What: Project Africa 2017
- Where: Bill Moore Student Success Center
- When: 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Project Africa is an annual conference organized by the African Student Association that focuses on using science, technology, entrepreneurship, and innovative ideas to promote African development. This year’s theme, “Redefining Our Purpose” plans to open a dialogue on how to create a better future for Africa in the areas of health, women, and education. Sunday, April 9
- What: Graduates at Top Golf
- When: 6–9 p.m.
- Where: Top Golf (Atlanta Midtown)
To kick off Grad Week, the Student Center Programs Council and the Student Government Association present Graduates at Top Golf. For $20, students graduating in Spring 2017 or Fall 2017 have the chance to enjoy three hours of Tog Golf, food, and transportation to and from the venue. Tickets are limited to two per person and there are a total of 200 available. Purchase tickets here.
