Deadline Approaching for Startup Summer 2016

Startup Summer is an intensive 12-week program during which student teams launch startups based on their ideas and prototypes.

Do you want to create the next brilliant startup? The application season for Startup Summer 2016 is almost over.

Startup Summer is an intensive 12-week program during which student teams launch startups based on their ideas and prototypes. Through the sponsorship of CREATE-X, teams are provided $20,000 in seed funding, mentorship, workspace, intellectual property protection, and visibility. 

Final applications for this summer are due by Friday, March 18. CREATE-X expects to allow around 20 teams into the program, and nearly half of the slots are already filled.

To date, 21 teams have launched startups through the Startup Summer program. Gimme Vending, from Startup Summer 2014, helps vending machine operators efficiently manage their fleet of machines and route drivers for improved management visibility and increased revenue production. Since Startup Summer, the team has raised $450,000 in outside funding.

FIXD, a device that helps drivers identify the cause of an illuminated check engine light, executed a successful Kickstarter campaign and has been signing large automotive service centers as clients.

Startup Summer is the LAUNCH signature element within CREATE-X, an initiative established by Tech alumnus Chris Klaus to build entrepreneurial confidence among Georgia Tech undergraduates.

Applications for Startup Summer 2016 are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 18.

Earlier applications will receive immediate consideration and decisions. A Q&A session will take place Tuesday, March 15, in Klaus 2448 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
