The Annual Co-Op and Internship Fair will take place Jan. 26–28. To ensure the best experience for students at the 2016 fair, the Center for Career Discovery and Development (C2D2) has established a new RSVP process.

Students can pre-register for a time slot via their CareerBuzz accounts, so be sure to complete these steps before registration closes on Sunday, Jan. 24.

For students who have already created a CareerBuzz account, the registration process is simple:

  1. Go to https://gatech-csm.symplicity.com/students and log in to your CareerBuzz account.
  2. Click on the “Events” tab and then click on the “Workshops” link.
  3. Select the “2016 Co-Op Internship Fair” session based on the time and day you plan to attend. (There are three sessions to choose from on each day of the fair.)
  4. Click the RSVP tab to confirm your attendance.

For students who have not set up a CareerBuzz account:

Follow the steps here to create an account. Be sure to use your GTID number (from your BuzzCard), not your GT Account username that is used for websites such as BuzzPort. First time CareerBuzz users can reference this CareerBuzz Guide to learn more about how to register and make the most of this job-seeking resource.

The Co-Op and Internship Fair will take place Jan. 26–28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Students should dress in business attire and bring copies of their updated resume. Get ready for the fair with these tips for how to avoid common career fair mistakes.

Students who have questions about the new registration process can contact career fair advisor Richard South at r.south@gatech.edu. Walk-up attendance will also be permitted at the fair.

Cybersecurity experts have a new tool in the fight against hackers – a decoy robot. Researchers at Georgia Tech built the “HoneyBot” to lure hackers into thinking they had taken control of a robot, but instead the robot gathers valuable information about the bad actors, helping businesses better protect themselves from future attacks.

For their work on an algorithm based on bee colony behavior a team of Georgia Tech systems engineers and a Cornell University collaborator, who studies bees, won The Golden Goose Award. It recognizes the practical, impactful contributions to society by research that may appear musing. The award highlights the high value of curiosity-driven science to humanity.
