The University System of Georgia (USG) implemented a system-wide campus safety initiative Tuesday, following a committee review and report of campus safety and security at the 30 USG institutions across the state.

Georgia Tech President G.P. “Bud” Peterson co-chaired the USG Campus Safety and Security Committee, convened by USG Chancellor Hank Huckaby last August, which issued a report and recommendations leading to the new initiative. The committee was charged with examining Title IX, campus law enforcement, and the federal Clery Act at USG campuses.

Outcomes of the report include mandated system-led training and centralizing the implementation and oversight of campus safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
